Campania’s golf near Naples is compact: three courses in range. Circolo del Golf di Napoli sits in the crater of an extinct volcanic cone in the Campi Flegrei, and Golf Club Volturno, 18.3 km away, adds pine-shaded fairways as the second stop. It is a small footprint, which is exactly why the wine and thermal side of the trip carry more of the itinerary here. What Campania does have going for it is access: Naples airport is just 16 km from the clubhouse, among the closest airport-to-golf match-ups on this site.
The region’s best-known wine names aren’t at the coast. Feudi di San Gregorio, Mastroberardino in Atripalda, and Di Meo all work Irpinia’s Aglianico, about fifty minutes east of the golf: Feudi’s Serpico is an Irpinia Aglianico DOC, Mastroberardino’s Radici Taurasi is a Taurasi DOCG, and Di Meo’s Vigna Olmo is a Taurasi DOCG as well. None of the three sits within the usual radius: they’re a curated extension of the itinerary rather than a short hop from the clubhouse. Closer to the coast, Azienda Vitivinicola Montespina Iovino, in Quarto (5.1 km), and Cantina Mirabile, in Bacoli (6.6 km), are the two visitable options nearer the golf.
Stufe di Nerone, Roman thermal caves still steaming in the Phlegraean Fields, sit a few minutes from the clubhouse, close to Stufe Antiche (3.8 km) and Bocca Grande (4.0 km). The bigger cluster is across the water: Giardini Poseidon Terme, 25.5 km away, anchors a long run of hotel spas on the island of Ischia, all reachable only by ferry from the Naples corridor. Negombo, Terme di Cavascura and Sorgente Sorgeto are among the other named stops on the island, all between 22 and 26 km away.
May is the strongest month here, averaging 21.3°C with 10.7 rain days, ahead of July (29.7°C, just 2.3 rain days) and June (26.4°C, 4.3 rain days). Midsummer runs hot and largely dry here, a different rhythm from the wetter shoulder months either side of it. January is the weakest month, with November close behind it and carrying the heaviest rain of the year. Campania runs on a single itinerary for now: Golf, Wine & Spa in Naples & Campi Flegrei links the volcanic golf, the Irpinia cellars and the Phlegraean and Ischia thermal water into one three-day route.
